Do the motion toys run all day and scare the cat at night?
No — that is the point of the sensors. The plush toys and Sprint balls stay dormant until a touch wakes them, run a short play cycle, then go back to sleep. At night an untouched toy is just a toy. If your cat patrols at 3 a.m. and wakes it, smart mode is doing its job a little too well; park the toy in a drawer at bedtime.
How long do the batteries last, and what charger should I use?
The toys carry 150 mAh cells — enough for days of touch-triggered play sessions on one charge, since they only run when activated. Charge everything on a basic 5V/1A adapter; fast chargers can confuse small batteries. The fountain also ships mostly discharged, so give any new arrival a full charge before judging it.
The fountain has no filter — is that actually better?
It is a different philosophy. Filter fountains recirculate the same water past foam; our system drains used water into a separate 1.5 L wastewater tank and refills fresh from the 3.5 L clean tank, so the bowl never holds second-hand water. You give up buying filters; you take on emptying the waste tank. Most owners call that trade a win.
My cat ignored the new toy. Defective?
Almost certainly not — cats distrust novelty on principle. Place the toy where ambushes happen naturally (behind furniture, along the hallway), let it lie dormant for a day so it stops being new, and let the first activation be the cat's own doing. Most skeptics convert within a week; the rotation trick in our motion-toy guide finishes the job.
Are the plush toys washable with the electronics inside?
The motors lift out. Unzip, remove the motor unit and catnip pouch, and the plush shell washes normally; the dog fish goes further with a fully replaceable oxford cover. Dry completely before reassembly — batteries dislike damp bunks.
Which toy should a first-time buyer start with?
For most cats: the flopping fish 3-pack — three fish, three temperaments served, highest hit rate in the fleet. For a ball-motivated cat or a multi-cat house, the Sprint set. For dogs, there is exactly one correct answer and it is armored in oxford cloth.
